speaking

Meg's work as a consultant focuses on impactful philanthropy.

Her areas of expertise include advising families on how to be meaningfully philanthropic, and working with nonprofits to carry out large, successful fundraising campaigns.

She's a writer, speaker, and consultant on outcome-driven philanthropy + the generosity contagion.

“Children are not too young to be generous. When we consider the heavy reliance we have on relatively few people to fund challenges in this country, we see how we must raise children who believe they are philanthropists now so that as adults, that’s exactly what they are.”

  • Why do we give? How do we know our money is well-spent?

There are problems that need solutions, and nonprofits exist to find them — but they need funding. Giving has created space for innovative, thoughtful approaches to tackling the world’s greatest challenges. Americans are asked to support nonprofits everyday, but what inspires us to do so? How can we be a part of providing world-changing solutions to issues and opportunities that have been well-considered by bright minds? Let’s have a meaningful conversation on the innovation that is philanthropy today, and how we become a part of the change for good.

  • As a consultant to families on strategic charitable giving, Meg guides families on how to bridge the gap between generations in generosity, and make giving both intentional and meaningful. This session shares details around America's giving trends, how to identify healthy organizations to support, conduct due diligence, and make gifts with intention. How can we ensure our giving will actually be impactful? As rising generations consider philanthropy differently, Meg offers advice on navigating giving as a family legacy and considering the priorities of different family members to make commitments that drive impact in worthy causes. We can build mission statements, make investments in challenges we want to tackle, and genuinely enjoy our giving together — philanthropy is the tie that binds in generous families!

Workshops

  • A tell-all on how to implement best-in-class processes for major gift solicitation success. Nonprofit leaders, fundraisers, board members, and volunteers hoping to strengthen the ability to qualify and solicit major gift prospects will benefit from this in-depth discussion with tangible takeaways. Advice will be practical and realistic to implement, and specific donor example asks will be shared as success stories to pull from.

  • Do you want your kids to be more grateful and generous? Me too. • When Meg's daughter experienced life-threatening anaphylaxis in 2021, her world turned upside down. As she's navigated food allergies, advocating for change and use of epinepherine, and served as an ambassador to food allergy nonprofits, she's sharing the story. In this inspiring session, Meg recalls the moments of her daughter's reaction, a stranger with an EpiPen who saved her life, and how life has been in the wake. A fierce believer in the power of philanthropy to solve challenges, Meg shares why nonprofits devoted to food allergies need funding, how they're driving new outcomes to save lives, and what people everywhere can do to keep themselves, their families and communities safe.

What’s your favorite part of public speaking, Meg?

The chance to share about a topic that I love and which I believe can change the world is deeply motivating to me. I love to stand on a stage and read people’s facial expressions when I propose a thought that makes them think or surprises them about charitable giving. Philanthropy is powerful and personal. The more people know about it, the more I feel a shift in the way we approach and speak about generosity across generations. When I’m speaking, that energy is palpable; I always leave events with a feeling of gratitude for having had the chance to do what I love around a purposeful topic.
